what i see

I see myself leading and guiding women and men in my nation: on issues of the well being of the individuals. I see myself being influential in areas of social change and development. I see myself being the driving force on establishments of policies and programs which will seek to address the needs of the society, addressing the social ills.

I want to see a world with leaders who are selfless in addressing the needs of the community. That is my heart beat.
I had a relatively good upbringing. Even though there were times I went to school with holes in my shoes and uniform, I appreciate what my parents did for us, ensuring that they brought us up in an inequality free environment. I want to give back to my community and offer other young girls an opportunity to grow up in such an environment, by engaging with the society at large.

I want to gain confidence in writing skills and expressing myself, with that I know I can be able to publish my insights in the local newspaper and seek to sensitize the community on the issues of inequality, education ,HIV/AIDS and poverty.
Being a Voice of Our Correspondence is an opportunity that I can benefit a lot from. I see it as a platform that will help me to transform my dreams and visions to reality. Around the world we have seen people going to their graves with potential which has never been unleashed. Others end up being frustrated by the government systems and start channeling their strengths in negative channels which then frustrate them even more. They find themselves in these situations mostly because they do not know how to express themselves in a way that they can be heard. I don’t want to be in this place, I know I have a lot to offer my community even the world at large.
I want to rise up to my full potential and right now I have some limitation which this program will help me to overcome, for me this is one of those keys which will unlock most doors in my life .
I believe with the support from this program I will be able to fully express myself and speak to the issues which many are afraid to speak about. My nation is a small nation, but we still see male representative in decision making position being high, way above the female representative. Equipping young women is what we need to bring a balance to this unbalanced equation.

Having worked in the most critical areas when it comes to well being of an individual; education sector, social and development and the human right sector. I have a lot to share with the world and to speak to the policies which are not benefiting the nation and influence the development of new relevant one.
I have seen young girls and boys being left behind because of education system, which says you can only be somebody when you have a university degree .Not that I am against university education but our gifts are different. Some of the young guys who fail in the normal education are great artists, song writers, sprinters, good cooks etc but because of a prescribed education they end up failing to achieve their dreams. I want to be able to speak to these issues boldly to a wider nation and change the mindset of our leaders and parents.

I have seen how gender based violence (GBV) destroy people’s lives and countries economy; I want to be that voice that will push through to get the government attention to this issue. I have seen programs and policies made which addresses poverty and HIV/AIDS but nothing on GBV. Thus we have seen less impact of those policies because they left out the GBV component which we cannot be separate from HIV/AIDS and poverty.

For me this is the time to rise up and to speak up, to speak for the voiceless and the hopeless, bring hope where there was no hope, bestow a crown of beauty for ashes. I came across the VOF program for such a time as this; to be equipped and to equip.
