my journey

I come from Botswana, a very beautiful and peaceful country. I am from a family of 6,2 brothers and 3 sisters , I grew up in a very loving and nourishing environment ,where the young respected the old and the old respected the young. I was born and bred in a small copper town called Selibe Phikwe (which is now dying ).My parents gave us unconditional love to us all and were very supportive. Now I am married and we have a good community around us both spiritual and otherwise.

The challenge I am facing right now is getting my NGO running and getting support on how to go about it. The challenge which other women and girls are facing is access to education and this is the challenge I would like to change. Even though education is free from primary to senior school there are some issues which hinder other women and girls to reach the highest level of learning, and these are the issues I want to focus on.Anything that could be of a hindrance to women and girls that’s what I want to deal with.

So far I have registered an NGO and mobilized other graduate women so that we could partner in improving this situation .I have also identified community who is need of our services and I am planning on doing situational analysis in these areas first. At the same time solicited funding to support students who have to walk long distance to school and also to do a research on the issue of Bazezuru and other indigenous groups who still have child marriages and don’t allow their children especially the girl child to go to school .

I am supporting women and girls who are having challenges with accessing education; time and again. I also work with women in economics empowerment initiatives. At the moment the support I am getting is very minimal, which is mainly from the fellow graduate women.

I need support in establishing and running this NGO and also to get many people to rally behind this course. I would like to harness my writing skills and how to approach key stakeholders for collaboration. I would need funding since most of the activities I will be doing have financial implication.

I am passionate about life and I want to see others enjoying it, and I want to be one of the people who will shed the light
