"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much" Hellen Keller
In a place where my supportive brother and his wife live in a neighbouring country, it has really been tough to get to a place where my own mother supports me morally or otherwise. In her eyes i probably did not turn out how she wanted me to be. My extended family- well they could not be bothered.
I however found solace and comfort in other single mums, through a support group i started this year on Facebook. I feel this is a group of motivated women who have decided to not let the stigma, the poor economy or even lack of support from families hold them back in doing the best for their children- alone. 'Tega zvedu' (alone together) is what this group represents to me.
I realise now i am more grateful for their role in my life than i have taken time to acknowledge. They are my support that make me believe we can do a lot more together than alone :)
