MY ABILITY IN DISABILITY

Good evening, I am Grace and challenged of leg, I was five years old when I fell into forty feet pit why playing around my neighborhood dug by my neighbour which affected my spinal cord.

My father tried a lot to revive me back to live by taken me to different hospitals for treatment before money became his challenge and he started believing God for miracles for me. My immediate family really stood by me showing love and care but no money.

I started schooling proper at age 8 thereabout and lost my caring mother when I was in primary five, it was hell losing my mother and my father lost his job as well. Everything was so tough and difficult couple with my disability.

My secondary school time was not easy for me mostly when when I want to urinate and my class mates are busy, I will just mess up my dress and get ashamed till I finished secondary school. I am devoted to God that keeps me going.

I met a man called therapist who trained me to use walk stick and getting used to it my sister's husband got me one which master me till now.

I Wrote my jamb it was excellent so I decided to further my education; I did with the the help of God, while in 200level I seek financial help from friends at school to start little business when my sponsorer stopped paying my school fees and necessary needs. It took faith to further my education because everyone discouraged me then because my family is poor. I began to sell little food which my capacity could in order to finance my schooling despite my health and God keeps me strong. I sponsored myself with the little business and little help from home.

In my final year I got pregnant to an inresponsible man who never cares for me nor the baby. I managed to write my final examinations and gave birth after two months of my examinations, I never see the baby as a burden rather as a blessing although it wasn't easy to feed myself and now to feed baby as well but the joy of it is that we are alive. Initially doctor's report was that I may not be able to rise up to walk nor give birth but with the help of God I still rise to walk with walk stick and have my own baby also a graduate from Tai Solarin University of Education in Nigeria, studied Counseling psychology and educational foundation.

Now I have the ability I needed only job I'm seeking and I'm believing God on that but while waiting on what God will do I am taking time to inspire to those suffering and helpless thinking that's the end of life, never give up it's your new beginning.

To parents please don't neglect the disabled ones or people with barriers, it isn't the end of life that disable can change life of others out there and make positive impacts, do not leave your children to strangers or plays around streets at your absent it could be dangerous or harmful.

If you are disable please be friendly to other able ones to gain help from then don't be stubborn nor careless, be devoted to God and believe no limitations. That's just little from my stories. Take care.
