It's an endless story started on March 10, 2002, by joining a small supermarket as a backend officer just lie operations manager role. They told me they were giving INR 17K to the previous girl. So, I told them money will not be a problem, let me join and work; you just see my work and then we will talk. #Corona19 hit the world, and we opened that supermarket because of government permissions. I worked for two months doing everything from billing to preparing documents and creating an online portal for grocery shopping. I talked to my boss and ask for INR 30K and he agreed; they paid nothing. On 28th July 2020, one of the two directors came into the picture and declared that I am being relieved as they are not earning any profits and salaries are too high. I took that news gracefully and left with proper handover; they owe me INR 95k; they paid me INR25K. According to the director, how could my immediate boss who the son of the second director took the decisions to keep my salaries so high?  My boss Sandeep Panwar came to my house and lied on my face that he never agreed to pay me INR30k per month. In fact, he told me they cannot pay more than INR15K  as that's what they were paying to the previous employee. Not only this, he called me tried to use my emotions and use his kids as bate; so I will join a new organization and work with them.

I decide that I am doing something different and started writing as if I have to work for free, then why for what I enjoy?

Why not work on my newly registered organization i.e. Bio Haven Club Pvt Ltd and launch my new social services project which I started 5 years ago i.e. VNoW; Virtual Network of Women.

This story was submitted in response to Dispatches from the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Hi Sabina,
Hearty congratulations about the launch of VNoW! What great news! What is the network about or do you have a web link to share?

When one door closes, it's soothing to be able to see a bigger, wider one. I admire your courage and confidence. Our intellect is a divine gift which no one can take from us. So, while you were relieved of your job, your soft skills remained intact. How awesome to turn what would have caused depression to progression. Now, you are the CEO of your network. How nice!

Sorry about how you were treated at work. It was most unfair to be treated that way after all the work you put in. I read a quote that resonates here " Don't be afraid to start over again. This time, you are not starting from scratch, you starting from experience."

'Glad that you have begun.

Hugs and love,
E. J.

Hello, E.J,

This is one of my favorites quotes, " Don't be afraid to start over again. This time, you are not starting from scratch, you start from experience." Just chiming in to say you're such a great encourager. :) Please keep it up. :)

Love and hugs, Sis.:) 'Always a pleasure to read from you. Remain on top and stay blessed. Thanks a lot!

Hello, Sabiha,

You are such a courageous woman! COVID-19 cannot defeat you, not with unemployment nor your former employer's lies and manipulation. Congratulations on daring to lead your own organization! You can do this. A lot of women have been on the same path as you, they made it happened, and so will you.

I agree with E.J., you are not starting from experience. Sending you lots of love and blessings on the success of VNoW. love the logo, by the way!

Hello Sabiha,
I'm sorry to hear that your employers refused to fulfil their financial obligations to you. It is infuriating how common that is for women, and how men employers try tobuy female employees into silence from economic abuse through pep-talk. Good on you for seeing through his ploy, and congratulations for forging a new beginning for yourself! That is courageous and inspiring.
I hope that you have an exciting journey!
