Disappointments and God's Plan.

Social media has a way of making people look like they are always winning (that is what they want you to see). It is not always the fact. I want to share what I called losing but what was actually God's plan. In 2012, I applied for a prestigious fellowship, I was shortlisted, reached the final stage and attended the interview. It was devastating to get a friendly but hot rejection email. Many of you know what I am talking about. I was upset for weeks, asked myself what could I have done better, I hosted a self pity party. When I snapped out of that mood, I accepted it was not God's plan for me. Past forward a few years later, I got an email from the same prestigious organisation, had a meeting in my office and was asked to be a mentor for the same program I was rejected years before with mentees from different countries. In an unrelated connection got 2 years funding from the same Government that led the fellowship that rejected me. What did I learn and need to keep reminding myself and you? Disappointments is based on expectations and NOT God's plan. Keep digging, keep going, keep building. Congratulations to everyone who is actually winning and for those who feel disappointed, have your pity party but quickly snap out of it because the sky is your limit. The best is yet to come.
