Good things come to those who wait

Time. Time is the one thing the wealthy, the poor, the lonely, the sad and the one about to commit suicide, right now, has in common. Isn't that wonderful that we all have 24 hours to do what we do best and it affects the outcome we expect to see in our lives, career and relationships?

Just think about it.

Right now - at this very moment - someone is waking up, another one is going to bed. Someone is worrying about a lost job, another one is celebrating getting the same job. Someone is giving birth, someone is dying. Someone is finding new meaning in being alive, another one is about just to jump off the bridge to commit suicide!

\"Time is the one thing we all have in common, but it is also the one thing that we all use differently.\"

Good things come to those who wait

I remember the first time I went to prison and had a session with 100 boys. Though the boys were used to receiving things - such as bread, milk and toilet paper - I came with nothing. To tell the truth, I was a little bit scared and worried about how they receive and respond to what had to share with them.

\"What music were you listening to before you were brought to prison?\" I asked.

\"I listen to Morgan Heritage,\" one of the boys said.

\"That's wonderful!\" I said. \"Since most of you are nodding yes, let's use one of Morgan Heritage's songs as an example. Which one should we use?\"

\"Nothing to Smile About,\" one of them said.

\"What will happen if you listen to Nothing to Smile About every morning when you wake up and every night before you to bed?\" I asked.

\"There would be nothing to smiling about!\"

\"Well, you are in a place where there really is nothing to smile about. Look at the walls, the barbed wire fence and your torn clothes, there is nothing to smile about,\" I explained. \"Yet, you are at the right place and all depends on how you use your time here.\"

\"Don't talk about time,\" one of the most fiercest boys said, his eyes bulging in anger. \"We don't even know what time or day it is. We simply take each day as it comes!\"

\"What is the one thing that every one has in common?\" I asked and got the following answers...

Breath. Life. Sun. Rain. Time.

\"You can either use your time here to reflect about life and how best you are going to live your life,\" I said, \"or you can wallow in self pity and continue blaming others from being prison. Becoming a better person starts right here and right now! You can choose to do that by having courage, faith, working hard and waiting for your desired results to happen.\"

It is all about time. Which brings me to my question. What have you done with the time you had today?
