Nothing is impossible

In my society, traditions plan our lives, but the beauty of specific cultural costumes might be mutilated by number of inherited prejudice doings against members of this society especially women and children. How we change such inheritance which might be sacred, that is a challenge for many societies including mine, such as genital mutilation, children marriage and honor crimes. another point is reaching remote communities in my country, I call them the forgotten communities because authorities only care for 4 or 5 major cities in the entire country, neglecting thousands of small towns and villages. They are usually poor and lack a vital communication tool which is internet. Laws and regulations in my country can be an obstacle. Gatherings and campaigns are not allowed even if it was a campaign by university students to spread awareness about smoking hazards.

Using web 2.0 might not be effective in rural areas were there is no internet, however, using classic communication methods like landlines phones might help more than cutting-edge technology, mobile phones are more advanced and private way to guide and help. Wise and respected men and women in our society are another solution. Men clerics and women religion teachers are followed and they are allowed to hold meetings in worshiping places. We might reach and discuss with them certain wrong and prejudice practices in society, especially clerics living in remote areas. Teachers are also a vital medium in society, and to take a matter in my own hands I could start what I call an awareness tour, just rent a van with professionals, visit a number of villages and towns to probe problems and share solutions.

PulseWire among other communities offer solutions for planing, gathering information and benefiting from the experience of other women, activists, organizations and funders. I can guide women to post and write about their own journey and reach for other women, take action and search for financing solutions for their personal or public projects. Online communities offer a place to gather despite the restrictions on meetings in one physical place. Finally, creating an online TV channel is even more effective in spreading awareness, the visual is powerful.
