Take Back the Tech's 16 days of activism campaign will take place this November; and in the spirit of this campaign World Pulse and Take Back The Tech want to hear your stories on how you used technology and employed innovative ideas to fight harassment, violence and abuse in your communities and personal lives. Just let the artist and storyteller inside of you express in any creative way you find yourself in: Write a song, a poem, a story, an article, a comic, post photos or artwork, a video or a short movie. Stories might contain reporting incidents to law enforcements, building a movement, digital security precautions, reaching out to support systems, self-care and other steps.

The submissions might be simply posted to the Technology and Innovation Group, but please bear in mind that your title should start with “Take Back the Tech:……….” and then the story title. For example: Take Back the Tech: How Our Community Used Mobiles to Help Rape Victims. Or “Take Back the Tech: How Internet Cafes Empowered Women..etc.

Take Back The Tech will choose a number of stories to feature on their website. The deadline for submissions is October 31st 2015.

Share with us your stories, you might help empower many women in the world who are reading and learning about your experience.

Thanks for posting, Hummingbird!! This is such a fantastic opportunity to make the stories of survivors heard to a wide audience, and to provide hope, inspiration and innovative solutions to others who are experiencing violence or harassment.

I'll echo Hummingbird's call to "Sing Your Story" and share that power with others!

I'm actuallly working on a documentary DVD/Poster for the women's group here in PNG that held events here in PNG - we call it - National 'Haus Krai' (NHK) - Haus Krai is referred to the place of mourning when a person dies.  The NHK events take place every year since 2 years now - which brings women together to do awareness and voice out issues on GBV to say - Enough is Enough.

I'll see if its completed , we can share it here too.

Thanks Hummingbird for this post - will surely share :)
