Today I saw some people commenting on Facebook how embracing it is that women in Sheema county in Uganda have no under pants. This is an election period in Uganda where aspiring Members of Parliament for next Parliament have began expressing their interests. This was a comment from on male:
"All along Sheema Women did not have knickers? BTW what is the population of Sheema? Giving out a knicker to each woman on behalf of XXX an aspirant for Sheema Municipality parliamentary seat. I find it absurd and humiliating".
It interests me that it is a male aspirant giving out the underpants. These may seem private issues but these are the real needs of the women in this location especially young women. It is the truth and reality that it becomes very difficult to go through the normal life experience of menstruation without underpants and sanitary pads. I applaud this spirit by men to address the needs of the people.
Thank you for sharing Sister.
Welcome dear sister

Thank you Otahelp
That is indeed the situation our African women face and live within silence. We shall continue to be the voice
We live in such a strange world that women so often don't have even the very basics needed. This is good news, that at least underwear is being provided now in these areas. I hope many men will be inspired to step forward and do something about these very basic needs being met for every woman.
Thank you Tam,
It is my sincere hope that more men come to that realization that they too can make lives better for women
Hello, Ikirimat,
Welcome back! How are you doing? Is the distribution of underpants taking place during pre-election only? Or is this a regular activity? I hope it is the latter.
Thank you for raising your voice about the lack of underpants for women in Uganda. Aside from equality in gender, may we also have equality in the World's wealth so there won't be any poor people anymore. But that's far from reality.
Thanks for sharing!
He needs to be applauded, as you say
Mmh most African leaders are the ones seeking votes using these petty bribes they do so when the campaign period comes and when they get it they do not see or hear them go to solve the problems that afflict the people,
thank you Ikirimat for writing this story. one only hopes if elected the campaign highlighting women's basic needs will continue.
