Spirit Awards Nominee without borders: Tam

I met Tamarack (Tam) Verrall on World Pulse when she made a great comment on one of my articles and we clicked. World Pulse being a platform and network of grassroots women raising their voices about issues affecting them and creating change, Tam suits this by all standards. I have shared and discussed with Tam on issues ranging from empowerment, GBV, passion, etc and found her a shoulder to lean on and draw strength from when I'm emotionally and physically drained. I have grown stronger and consistence by learning from Tam who strongly believes in the power of sisterhood and that no action is too small to make a difference. Reading her work on women-led social network for social change wows me!

Tam exhibits the contagious spirit of impartation, innovation, and excellence. In her on way of creating women networks, it has created impact far and wide. Over the years it has disrupted the status quo of women with their growing presence and changing negative perceptions about women in their own unique way. A recent letter to Global Affairs Canada/Feminist Foreign Policy calling for resources to be directed to change makers, end wars, for a global cease fire, addressing poverty, disability, violence is just one of those strong and bold voices of Tam that cant be ignored.

Her consistency and determination sets her above all. Since I met Tam on WP we have kept in touch, by following her posts, sharing emails and my knowledge in women issues has grown and enabled me create more impact in my community. Her passion about paying more attention on women with disability in GBV programming recently enabled me argue out with an organization which shifted their focus to women with disability by empowering them through training.

Tam very well understands the power of technology to accelerate impact towards gender equity. World Pulse is a virtual community and so without internet, without a computer/laptop its just feels alone. This is just my family and community. When Tam learned I was struggling to replace my laptop to stay active, she did not hesitate to offer that love. It just blew me away.

Passionate about empowering women her advocacy strengths benefitted a young woman (Samali) in Uganda see her dream of returning back to university after 3 years alive again. Tam is just selfless and full of love. This is real sisterhood.

In Tam, I found a sister, mentor, shoulder to lean on, an ambassador, a vocal voice and action mover.
