Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
Ms. Edith Ingutia is a VSO Volunteer from Kenya, sharing her skills and changing lives in Namibia. Currently she is a full time Programmes Director for the entire Kunene Region based in Khorixas under Welwitschia Development Trust, A locally based NGO Reg no.T31/05 with a vision to reduce poverty, encourage good governance and to improve the livelihoods of rural people through providing development and institutional strengthening support. Our mission is to build the capacities of community groups, institutions, businesses and other disadvantaged people and to facilitate processes that coordinate and integrate local and regional economic development sustainably. She has been instrumental in spearheading various initiatives and broadens WDTs scope to include Youths, Orphaned and Vulnerable Children, HIV/AIDS, Gender Advocacy, Food Security and Environmental issues affecting climate change and Community Based Natural Resource Management integration. She is an ex-officio Member of the Khorixas Stadium Renovation Committee and Khorixas Vocational Training Centre Committee under the Namibian-German Special Initiative Program (NGSIP). Also she plays an important role as a member of the organizing committee for the National Workshop of Intangible Cultural Heritage-Kunene Region under the Millennium Development Goal Initiative Fund (MDGi-F). In these committees she offers Advisory technical assistance supporting institutional strengthening, sector and policy studies, and non-project-related human resource development. While in high school in the late ‘90s Edith worked with various grassroots level organizations in her native Kabolet Village in Kitale-Trans-Nzoia District to combat stock-theft in the Munyaka –Pokot borders, encourage youths to embrace agriculture as a source of income and employment in tea farms and garden projects on the banks of River Nzoia. As a born member of the Salvation Army church in Kabolet she empowered young girls’ school drop-outs and women to learn skills like sewing, pottery and weaving to earn a living and support their families. She holds a B.Com in Marketing, University of Nairobi, 2001 – 2005, Diploma in Public Relations (DipPR), LCCI, 2004 – 2005, and Certificate in Africa’s Natural Resources (ANR), United Nations University, 2009 and currently studying Long Distance for a Higher Diploma in HIV/AIDS Management (Public Health Option), University of Namibia, 2010-2012. She has over five years experience in community development, business planning and marketing, project management, Implementation, tourism joint venture facilitation, Monitoring and Evaluation and financial management.
