I usually am not the one to comment on any political posts that go around. I have my opinions like everyone else, but strongly believe that just having an opinion about a political party does not change anything for me, especially because I do not even hold an Indian citizenship or a right to vote in India. However, the Facebook statuses that are doing the rounds today, are forcing me to break my silence.
It's sad; there is so much hatred being passed around. Some people wanting Orange, some rooting for Green. Come on guys, we all know better than that. We all know the crap that is dished out in the name of religion. I have only seen divides, poverty, hunger, illiteracy, murders, killings and terror.
I want a Rainbow now. I want the beauty of colors to fill this world which is only painted in hatred so far.
I want to see smiles being put in the pockets of the poor, instead of half a kilo meat and a hundred rupees. I want to see flower beds and water sheds, instead of shit and gutters along the roads.
I want children to spread their arms for a hug, instead of alms. I want women to rejoice in the knowing that they can walk around freely, with men giving them assuring nods. I want to go out to the market and buy good health instead of adulterated vegetables.
I want flowers from the Gulmohar tree to fall on me, instead of an ugly hoarding. I want open parks for all my children. I want a clean Mithi. I want the Mangroves to stay. I want the pets to play. I want my ocean free of pollution. I want sparrows to come back. I want misery to go away. I want a happy world, for me, for you- where I will be there for all of you.It is OUR world.
We breathe the same air that kills us. we eat the same food that rots our insides. Our children go to the same schools that fleece us. We fall on the same craters that break our spine.
So If you are bleeding, I will be there at your side-whether you are Hindu, Muslim or of some other pride. I will be there sans the dot on my finger. i will be there sans any political guide. I will be there because no dot, no politician, no leader can paint that rainbow for me. The palette is us. That dot may fade tonight, tomorrow, but let the love in you burn bright. Let it soak the Oranges and Greens; let tomorrow be a better sight.
