Kid watching Tv: The change I want to see (1/1)

So many people make wrong choices daily either intentionally or worse off unconsciously. The process of decision making, I believe, is mostly driven by general ideas we hold and principles that govern our take of reality.

Unconsious decisions are made by aligning ourselves to what we accept is the norm. I used to read books, fiction and otherwise, indiscriminately. Not caring for the fact that the information I was taking in was actually shaping my conception of reality. Don't get me wrong, reading is a great thing but like every other form of information intake it could be harmful if not chosen selectively.

I also used to think the cool kids were the ones who broke all the rules and how if I could just do the things they did then somehow I will be considered cool. I now know how wrong this kind of thinking is. I know it now, and it gets me to ponderif I could have been convinced to have a shift in mindset. Toinstead considerexcellence as excellent.

Recently I have taken to watching TV shows. This is a great form of forgetting about current reality and focusing on something interesting. I can spend hours just watching these. But a pattern emerged in me. I started copying the characteristics of female heroines in movies in my own life. That led me to think more closely about what I let into my mind.

I am committed to making better choices. I have made so many wrong choices in the past for many reasons be it lack of information, misinformation or a wrong ideology of the consequences of making wrong choices.

I want to help young people, especially girls, who are at an impressionable age to be able to make decisions that will help them in the long run. I want to provide a platform where ladies (and people) who think this way can also influence youngsters.

Nowadays the internet is the surest place to meet these youngsters. I am brainstorming on how to get their interest first, and then make available to them information that will possibly displace wrong ideas and empower them for upcoming decisions in their sex lives.

I joined WORLDPULSE recently because it is made up of people who are aimed at social causes such as this. Ifthis resonates with you, if you can contribute in ANYway...please join this sister.

Ideas, encouragements and even just a shoutout are all welcome.

Hello Iyamail! Welcome to World Pulse:-) What a great idea. I have noticed throughout my life that the majority of people don't question their thoughts, actions, activities, but I think this could be shifting as people are unhappy with the current state of the world. I would love to hear your ideas on how you see this platform coming to fruition, how you would engage youth, and what your goals are.

Hi jlanghus! Thanks!

Creating a website is the first step of the plan. Create content on the site that increases awareness on the subject matter. Encourage site visitors  to become activists in the cause. The parents of the youth will be the initial people I will like to get involved. Provide educational package for preteens to empower them While encouraging gently a social network that is dignified. Offering competitive levels of fun with the existing social media with the difference of dignity Picture upload, video upload with some sort of award/reward the more correct it is. Community interaction. Screening and approving mentors who give regular video/ audio lessons to the rising right thinkers. These are my original ideas.

The goal is to provide filtered content in the platform. The goal is to create a community. The goal is to encourage clean fun in a safe space.:-)

But I can't do this alone! Partner with me in any way you can! Improve on my ideas, point me to resources or even blog on my website and let's grow together.

You're welcome:) That makes sense. I think you will also need to engage through social media and newsletters to members so they can share your message/cause. That also makes sense that your first target is parents. Wow. You are a true visionary. I'm very impressed. I will email you, and see how I can help.

This is a brilliant idea it really hits the mark with my story. I never reflected on life as a young person I just reacted to life with no thought.. When I was in the rehab and people were talking about reflection, boundaries  and insight I did not have any idea what they were talking about. All I can say is good luck and I will watch how things develop. I am very busy at the minute but if I feel I can contribute in any way I will.

Hi Iyamail -

It's wonderful to have you as a member of World Pulse to join with us all in creating empowerment, equality and safety for women.

I think we all can related to what you said about having made poor choices because of lack of information, misinformation or a wrong ideology of the consequences of making wrong choices.

Your idea to use the internet to reach young girls and give them information so that they can take charge of decisions in their sex lives is very important work.  I admire your passion and dedication. Looking forward to hearing more about your vision and your progress.
