Jill Langhus (The African Way)

Jill is someone I can not describe because I may not bring out the true person that she is. I also fear that I may be wrong because am very poor at description though I completely feel it inside deep down in my heart. But when I read the description of the call for who we will nominate, I was like, eeeh! but this is her, I re-read it and still exclaimed, this already is Jilan!!

I read, \"lifts up others, speaks out, listens, transform, trustworthy, connector, uses technology, makes a difference\". I was identifying with all these words because she has always been all of them to me. She has always sends me links and resources to help in my academic like the time when I was desperately trying to fund-raise for tuition as well as funds for the Shunemite Women (Mothers of children affected with nodding syndrome). Though she never gave me any cash, she always asked how far and encouraged me to keep strong and listened to all my other \"noise\" but talking to her always made me feel better and back on my feet like when she says, \"let me know how far or let me know what you are doing or her you are...\" they mean so much and even after the problem has been solved and I have borrowed a leaf from her to help others especially friends and course-mates. She has referred me to a number of people here on World Pulse who may have a similar vision or project like mine. Job links and others just so that am a better person to help those in my life with ease.

Jill is a great encourager, listener, mother and sister. There was a time she just gave me advice on what to do with my mother's remains which I saw it made a lot more sense. Jill has always identified with me, like when my uncle was sick till the time he passed on and even afterwards, she has been around for me. She knows so much about me not because I just tell her, because she always inquire just the African way (where everyone is asked how they are doing including hens, goats and cows which is due or has just given birth...) She has really been so good in both the good and bad times. Jill, you are really a great lady and I want to say thank you so much for not joining me in the pity-party but destroying all that was set for the pity-party and saying, \"the party is over, we are going to do it this way\". It has always worked and the results are there for all to see. I love you Jill and thank you for being the angel that you are :-) because you have not only helped me intellectually but emotionally, spiritually, physically and psychologically. I feel whole after a chat with you every single day.

Jill deserves this award not because she is my friend or because I have nominated her. No! it is because she has impacted the lives of many people on World Pulse. Many will agree with me and many will also disagree. But the truth still stands...\"Jill Langhus for the award!\"
