ABOUT US

Zanzibar School of Hope is a community based non profit organization established in the year 2015 with a plight of supporting and empowering orphans and other children, youths and women in the community of Nungwi village, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Nungwi was traditionally the center of Zanzibar's dhow-building industry, but over the last decade the coastline has rocked in popularity to become one of the island's busiest beach destinations, recognized in the list of \"100 best beaches of the world\" to visit.

But despite the influx of tourists, Nungwi is a traditional, conservative village. This is the main reason why there is a big lack of education interest in the area. And because of this, many people find it difficult to find a job, even if there are a lot of employment opportunities in the tourism field in this area. Many of these jobs are taken by people coming from the mainland Tanzania or other african countries, leaving the population of Nungwi out of this, without the ability of taking advantage of these opportunities.

The effective and sustainable programmes the organization will have are designed to improve the living standards of people through provision of care and support in terms of basic education, health and imparting vocational training skills.

Zanzibar School of Hope seeks to empower marginalized children, youths, women, health care and sport activities here in Nungwi village, with the aim of developing confidence and self-sustainability as well as equipping them with modern life shaping skills. The activities will give them the opportunities to education, business skills, vocational training courses, health care education and sport activities, and aid them to become useful citizens.

In order to easy our way in developing these programmes, we want to create a space where people will develope a higher interest in learning skills, a school where they can learn how to better integrate in the society, by attending the modern shaped courses.

Zanzibar School of Hope Empowerment is a community based non-profit organization, designed to reach, inform, assist and give hope to the hopeless children, orphans, youths and women, ensuring that they get appropriate help and get it as early as possible, thereby giving them a much greater chance of taking their rightful place and playing their part in the society.
The activities will give them the opportunities to education, business skills, vocational training courses, health care education and sport activities, and aid them to become useful citizens.
To make a real lasting difference to the lives of children through provision of quality education and health care needs;

To efficiently respond to the urgent needs of vulnerable children through offering formal education to them and provision of other scholastic materials like school uniforms and stationaries;

To build a school where they can attend the courses we teach and where we can create the best environment for them to learn as much as possible;

To equip primary school children with educational facilities that will create a good learning atmosphere for them;

To reduce the illiteracy level in the community;

To easy the communication with foreigners and tourists in the area, by teaching the children English language from early ages;

To reduce the level of conservatorism in the small community of Nungwi;

To promote healthy habbits and educate children about healthcare, clean water, washing and bathing;

To discover children talents and improve them by teaching them arts and crafts skills, developing their imagination ;

Children Project

Bulding a solid foundation of learning and education from early ages, remains the greatest challenge of all , for Zanzibar to fully unlock its extraordinary potential and come out into the big world. The issues in Zanzibar education field include public expenditure constraints; slowness of educational reform; lack of skills needed for effective management and planning; poverty and lack of parental involvement in the education process. We are working to improve quality of education children receive by improving teaching methodology and resources, school governance and planning systems and the involvement of volunteer teachers.

YOUTHS PROJECT
Our dream is to easy our way in developing educational programmes, to create a space where young people will develope a higher interest in learning skills, a school where they can learn how to better integrate in the society, by attending the modern shaped courses, to become better citizens and create their own way through the life.

Because the big lack of education interest in the area, many young people find it difficult to find a job, even if there are a lot of employment opportunities in the tourism field in this area. Our Mission is:

To empower the youths with Education skills, teaching them English and other vocational trainings;

To easy the communication with foreigners and tourist in the area and also other people in their community;

To empower them with business skills so that they can make it through poverty and create their own businesses, in order to change their lives and aid them to become usefull citizens;

To reduce the illiteracy among youths;

To empower them with marketing skills in order to be able to sell their products;

To help them discover what vocational skills they have, what hopes and dreams and then helping them improving their skills to change their lives in a better way;

To engage them in sport activities so that they can improve their talents, stay healthy and promote group activities in the community;

To work with other organizations and developed partners to support them with business skills and facilities;
To empower them with vocational skills;

Women Project

Zanzibar School of Hope aims to mobilize resources and adress the survival line problems facing the women, in order to improve their living conditions and lifestyle, by creating acces to learning facilities for them, strenghtening them through educational, vocational, business trainings, so that they can contribute to the community development and learn how to support their families.Nungwi is a traditional, conservative village, which is the main reason why there is a big lack of education interest in the area and also why women are left behind in the shadow of a men leading community .Because of this, the majority of women in Nungwi find it difficult to find a job or start their own business, even if there are a lot of employment opportunities in the tourism and commerce field in this area.
