Giving Global Women a Voice on the World Pulse Board of Directors

In the everyday hectic schedule of every woman, there is always a place for a good meal sitting around a table with the family, where the stories of the day, the laughter and the joy, but also the trouble and the worries of the day can be shared with the family; where each member is reassured of the love network this family is able to provide for each, and where the support safety net for every member is woven and offered with simple words and as an expression of unity and family pride. This is also the way my mind sees every meeting of the Board of Directors of World Pulse.

This is because World Pulse in run by women. This is what makes the difference. Us women have what I call “The Touch”, that makes us be collective thinkers. We are never happy if we are not doing something for our tribe, whichever that tribe may be. In the global North, as well as in the South, the many types of tribes that women are engaged in are innumerable, but all of them share the basic expressions of the feminine spirit, that I will summarize in a famous Bolivian phrase: “Where two can eat, three can eat as well”.

This is the kind of behavior that World Pulse fosters for all of us: inclusive, sharing, caring and of course loving. The fact that we need to be heard from one extreme to the other of the earth makes us humble when we remember the enormous size of the task ahead, but the approach to do this that World Pulse has, is what gives us the strength to continue the path.

If I can only help one woman fulfill her dream, I am happy, but if I can make thousands of women fulfill their dreams, then living is worthwhile. We are the women who share the table the world has set for us. We´d better get going. We´d better take our roles, and act up to the situation, giving the best of us, working day and night, as no hours in the day will be enough to take the necessary steps, to walk the many times narrow paths, to read the minds that only glimpse in the sad eyes of a shy woman in the global South.

The answers to the questions are in each voice from the North and South, but will not be heard, nor understood, until they unite, they share, they open up their hearts to show the wounds to each other and thus make the world realize that women are here, paving the road for humanity to follow. The road’s name is unity. The trail is set, the trailer’s names do not matter, but it is their spirit which will make it all possible.

Telling our stories, raising the questions that affect our global South, punished with violence, poverty and gender based discrimination, are the “wild west wagons” that take us to the promised land. Working in the World Pulse Board of Directors will be like holding the reins of the horses in our hands. Will we have the guts, the strength, the endurance, the will and the spirit to make it? Not easy to tell. I pray to God that we live up to the challenge every minute of the rest of our lives, and am sure we will not let go of the reins, as the embracing energy of the Universe is with us. Unstoppable. Everlasting.

We are the family. World Pulse is the table. The food and the recipes are to be discussed, and shared, by the best women in the Pulse, humbly and with the blessing of the rest.
