I AM NORTH

I'm Igbo by tribe from the Eastern part of Nigeria, but I was born and and brought up in the North. I know their way of life, their food, their trade. The North is a peaceful and beautiful place. It's inhabitants are welcoming and accommodating. They're epitomes of love and care.

As a girl child in the North, you're expected to grow and be married off before the age of 20. Only few go to school and even if they do, they drop out of school when it's time to get married. Some hawk on the streets, if you're lucky, you learn a trade.

But I can testify to the progress of the North. The North is evolving! Even though the progress is slow and stagnant in some places, there are changes!

We will not give up on the North!
