My Girls

I gave birth to boys. All through their growing years people would say "don't you want a girl?" and I would answer "the Creator knows what he is doing." As my boys grew into the amazing men they have become I have no regrets. Their father and I taught them that there was no such thing as women's work, and that they had to love and respect women, and help each woman they came in contact with to strive for their vision, whether or not it coincided with theirs.

Fast forward to the days they brought me the amazing women they wanted to marry, as my youngest said, "I have brought you your daughter." Not flesh of my flesh, but children of my heart. The Creator did know best, I think as they work on their marriages, and give me grand daughters who accept their femininity, yet do not let it or anyone limit them. These daughters of the future are a joy as they challenge the world. And as I celebrate them, and their beautiful wonderful mothers, I can say with joy, the Creator knows best.

So all the girls who touch my life and these include my nieces and grand nieces, on the day of the girl I celebrate you
