Day 1: 2008 AIDS Conference

Jonah, Shawn and I just returned to our hotel after a full day in the Global Village at the 2008 AIDS Conference. My husband and I were just commenting that we have never experienced a more intense or stimulating day.

There were thousands of people swarming in the village and dozens of zones: women's networking (where World Pulse is!), intrafaith, youth, sex workers, gay and lesbian, asian, deaf and disabilities, to name a few. There were dozens of impromptu sessions of drumming and dancing and celebration of the human spirit. There was a main stages that held various outrageous and poignant skits. There was a community space that we didn't get to. And a marketplace. And an art exhibit. It was never quiet and it was never dull.

I am attending this conference with Anne-christine d-Adesky (http://beta.pulsewire.net/user/24) and Leah Okeyo (http://beta.pulsewire.net/user/105). We had planned to register courageous women and men leading the charge against HIV and AIDS on PulseWire, but the Internet was down for most of the day. I just got word that right as Shawn, Jonah and I were leaving, the Internet came back and Anne-c and Leah registered 6 new members in one hour!

If you found your way to this entry, I hope you will also find your way to friending our newest community members!
