The Power of Prayer and Microfinancing works for women worldwide!

Robert received a loan for Kiva.org (1/1)

Roberta is my 86th borrower. Myself and many humble, ordinary people throughout the world create microfinance opportunities for women to thrive. After all we really are in this world together. Charity has its place in the world. But it will never create the ability to be self sufficient. So many of us in this world depend on charity, and will never see another way out of poverty and lack. There is another way. Microfinancing, which gives women the opportunity to create, grow and sustain their own businesses.

This is a story about the power of prayer combined with the power of creating opportunity. They are truly inseparable.

I do microfinancing with Kiva.org. It is a system for women to create independent lives for themselves.  Please meet my latest borrower Roberta, 66 years old. She raises pigs in the Philippines. I am proud of Roberta because she has been in business now for 10 years. She has borrowed from Kiva 6 times and has successfully repaid each time.  She just borrowed again. That's when the power of prayer was invoked.

Normally, when I fund a borrower, it takes only 2 to 3 days for the borrower to be 100% funded. Because the loan is a money magnet. If I lend, then others will lend. My borrowers always go from 0% to 100% funded in only a few days. And they can move forward to create more business and continue to build. But...Roberta was not getting funded. The other lenders were not arriving. The funding was paralyzed, not moving at all. For some reason it was taking more than 15 days for the balance of Roberta's funds to be granted by other lenders. What was going on I asked myself?

Then I realized, and it hit me like a brick!  I did not say my traditional prayer when I sent the loan for Roberta. I "always" pray for my borrowers to be funded immediately. This time I did not.  I took it for granted because Roberta and I are veterans at this game. Oh My God...literally. What a mistake! What an oversight!

So... I sincerely prayed for Roberta to receive the balance of her funding. I prayed as I do for all of my loans for my borrowers. For my loan to be a magnet for the other lenders to lend and complete the loan. And for the process to take no more than 72 more hours, maximum.

Well, behold, I just checked. Roberta is 100% funded. It took 24 hours after I prayed for her. And she is 100% funded! So, never take the power of prayer for granted. Never discount and overlook the need for prayer.  It made all the difference for a woman who needed a microfinance loan. The prayer is the magnet that the other lenders feel. It's not just the deed of the loan. Trust and believe.

Hugs...JoMarie

Wow! This is an incredible testament to the power of prayer and the magic of ubuntu, JoMarie. I love this sisterhood that transcends borders. When I read, "It's not just the deed of the loan. Trust and believe", I wanted to smile and cry and jump all at once.

You're a vessel of love, hope and glorious action! I feel honoured to know this. I am keen to see more and I'll visit this lending community too. Thank you.

Hi Rahmana,
It was nice to meet with you and Tam on zoom. We covered some good territory. Login to Kiva.org and start with just one loan. That way you will learn the process. And help someone get their dreams realized. Please read my comment to Tam below.

Prayer indeed changes things, we especially as women, know many times that the only solid foundation we have to stand on You seem do passionate about what you do Jo Marie, and what you said is true, charity is good, but feed a man a fish is temporary, teaching him to do so is a life long benefit, keep up the great work.. My sister. We all win when another woman rises

Dear Elizabeth,
We must always help each other rise. Even in a small way. In humble ways and sustainable ways. It doesn't take a lot. I enjoyed meeting you at the Encourager's meeting.

Hi Rahmana,
Requests for rent/food is a need for rescue. That's a dire, immediate issue. I am targeting sisters who want help toward their sustainable dreams. Which can also be rent/food.

Dear JoMarie,
Thank you so much for explaining how micro financing can and does work, and for sending this information out to us all here in World Pulse. I love knowing how one financing can encourage others, so that a collective of finances can make businesses possible. And the power of prayer, in all of the ways we pray, in all of our spiritual traditions. The unexplainable, so simple for us to do, so powerful for those we send out those prayers for, so powerful for what we hope to make possible.
Big hugs back to you dear Sister,
Tam

Dearest Tam,
Thanks for zooming. It was really fun. I hope we can do it again. Any questions that you may have feel free to toss my way. The key is to start humbly with only one loan. I had no idea that I would do a second loan. I started in 2012. We are here in 2021 and I am at my 86th loan. I could not have envisioned that if I tried. Belief in the ability of women to thrive independently motivated me to keep going, with joy in my heart each and every time. I need these sisters too. I am also working on thriving independently. They are my inspiration on how to do so much with so little. If I can help them, I can help myself. And they help me by showing me how it can be done. And that it is possible. No matter where you are.
Massive hugs...JoMarie
