Amidst the Covid19 pandemic, extremely high unemployment, business closures, temporary and permanent job losses, the massive breakdown of the US economy, soaring high pandemic infection rates and stay at home orders, Americans are going hungry.  There is a food crisis and food insecurity in America. Many Americans are accepting charity for the first time so that their families can eat. The world is used to seeing large shipments of food coming their way donated by American organizations, both government and NGOs. Now Americans are in need of the food donations.

The alarming reality is Americans, especially families are going hungry. The distribution of food is government and charitable, large scale but rationed. It is not from earned dollars and purchased at the retailer, because for many, this is no longer a possibility. The food lines stretch for miles, with thousands of cars or people in lines, depending on the demographic. When the driver reaches the distribution station they pop open the trunk and the staff fills it with an average of 20 meals, of whatever is available.

THE PICTURE! The picture above of the San Antonio, Texas food bank has gone viral, taken by William Luther for the San Antonio Express News...

"I think it really helped put clarity on something that was really difficult for people to understand," Luther said. (the photographer of "the picture")

If there was any doubt that COVID has deepened America's hunger crisis, that picture dispelled it.

Hi JoMarie,

How are you? Oh, wow! It seems since Ileft the U.S., things have really plummeted. I don't envy Biden and Kamala's job. They definitely have their work cut out for them. Thanks for sharing and bringing awareness to this problem.

Hi Jill,
I'm fine, and thankful that I am. Biden and Harris have a lot of damage to correct before we will see the light at the end of our tunnel. We have to wait until January 20th before they can hit the ground running. It's a hot mess! And getting messier. Thanks for your comment Jill.
XO...JoMarie

Yes, the crisis of hunger and homelessness is getting worse as the CARES Act is coming to an end with no new help in sight. There is so much that needs fixing now, not in 1 or 2 years. The pandemic has ripped off all pretense of the American Dream.

Hello, JoMarie,

Wow. I have no idea! " The world is used to seeing large shipments of food coming their way donated by American organizations, both government and NGOs. Now Americans are in need of the food donations. " - How sad this is. So heartbreaking. What happened to "we will make America great again"?

How are you, dear? Is everything ok with you and your family? The U.S. has been generous to the rest of the countries for decades. I know you will survive this one.

How can the rest of the countries help America?

Dearest Karen,
Just having an awareness of us in America is huge. People only want to see Americans as the mighty eagle, military, almighty dollars, opportunity, wealth, freedom..,yada, yada. We are humans. Unfortunately we also suffer from the bad decisions made by other humans. Things will get better. But the slogan "make America great again" belongs to a political campaign that lost the election. They wanted to go back to the difficulties of our past history. That slogan needs to be buried. Onward to the new, to the future. We await January 20th when the new government administration takes over. Other countries can help by being aware, seeing us as human, and being aware that we also have struggles. In Covid19 we are not solving the global crisis, we are the crisis. Thank you so much for your support and concern. You are appreciated!
Hugs...JoMarie

Woooo :-( that photo! It makes one feel so very vulnerable, uncertain, scared, in a corner and out of options. Is it improving at all? When you look at such an image as representative of an American reality, right now in 2020 when life is tech and the great depression when things were dire is many generations removed, it is hard to 'enjoy being woke'. But you keep fueling that wokeness...no escape or turning back now.
I hope that help will get to those who need it....America fed Russian children for years after the war, I ho[e it can get food to hungry citizens now when they most need it.

Incidentally, I'm still working on that story you inspired...borrowed a quote or two from you he hee ;-)
I am much better recently, and spend the sick days thankful for rest and contemplating how health is the gift that gifts us with so much else in life! Thank you for your love and care always big sister-in-chief :-)
Love and hugs and sparkles!

Dearest Nini,
We have better days ahead. The vaccine has arrived in the western hemisphere. They will start shooting soon. Stay tuned. I'll be giving updates. Now our government is hashing out a plan for the government transition time and pandemic relief. It's called the Lame Duck session. (What an inspiration! Lol). They cannot create a relief bill fast enough. The things they argue about leaves many Americans hungry, jobless, homeless and daunted. America did not only feed Russians my dear. We haven't earned our rescue, food, charity and war purse reputation from just Russia. America is proud of saving the freaking world! Let's see how America saves itself. What a concept! The entire relief system is complicated when it comes to America feeding Americans. But not impossible. Click the links above for an up close and personal view of feeding those in need. It's interesting.
January 20th starts a new government. Right now we have a guy in office who is fighting for his "Twitter" rights, while his wife packs to move to the Florida estate, so the White House can be cleaned, repaired and fumigated from Covid19, west wing staff and critters.
Glad you are feeling better my dear! Looking forward to reading "our" story that we are writing. LOL!
Love & sparkly hugs...JoMarie
