Please enjoy this heartfelt story of an African American father learning to do his daughter’s hair for the first time.
This is a short about family support coming full circle in times of need and times of change. The crisis is hair.
The little daughter needs her hair done. Well, every Black woman knows that we are all about method. But Mom is not around and Dad is left to his own devices. He tries his best.
Baby girl is not happy with Dad's best. So she gets her mother's tablet, and shows him the blog that her mother made on how to do little girl's hair.
Dad follows instructions, and voila! Baby girl is beautiful and ready to go.
Go where? Dad and baby girl go to visit Mom. And Mom is amazed at her daughter's hair looking so beautiful.
The minor shock to baby girl is that her mother is bald. Probably from chemo.
Mom used baby girl to make a blog. Mom helped Dad by making the blog. Baby girl helped Dad by showing him the blog.
Dad made baby girl look fabulous. Dad brings baby girl to visit mom and support her in the hospital.
The entire family is together supporting each other. Support is layered ,tiered and full circle.
Sometimes this can be real life. Sometimes it could never be.
But this is an entertaining and sweet example to share with your family of all ages. Share with them the possibilities.
Teach kids while they are kids. And it's never too late for us big kids to learn as well.
