Doves of Hope: Washington National Cathedral (1/1)

"The Doves of Hope" an installation at the Washington National Cathedral

German artist Michael Pendry installed the Les Colombes (the Doves) exhibit: a winding column of more than 2,000 origami paper doves in the Washington National Cathedral. Symbolizing hope and the Holy Spirit, the doves encourage a feeling of optimism. This installation in the Cathedral, embodies our resolve to be kind and to do our part in making a better tomorrow.

Suggestion: Make your own Doves installation at your local school, in your home, in an office, in a store, anywhere. Here is the link for making doves. It's easy. And you can use recycled office paper from the copy machines.

Make your own Doves of Hope! It’s easy:

Write an inspirational message on the dove. And hang it. This is a great project for children, the elderly, the solitaires and families.

Have fun! Be inspired! Be hopeful!

Hugs...JoMarie

Hi Joshua,
I hope you can share this and post some photos of any projects. Spread the doves, spread the hope.
Thanks Joshua!

Wow, just looking at the doves bring so much hope, dear JoMarie. Great idea of creating our own dove installation at home, office, school, and other social spaces. What we put in our environment can dictate our mood.

Thank you for sharing this lovely artwork plus an idea with us! Have you installed one on your home?

Thanks Karen. I use my doves to send to people. I write a letter, or an inspiration, fold it into a dove and mail it. So it really does fly!

You're welcome, dear. Wow, like origami? That's so sweet. :)
