About Me:Joyce is the director and co-founder of Society Against Negative Exclusion (SANE-Kenya). In this organization she is involved in creating awareness on the negative effects of all forms of discrimination. She is also the Head of Guidance and counseling in one of the girls High Schools in Kenya. The school is situated in one of the largest slums in Kenya; Mathare slum. She has been involved in lifting the lives of the girls, motivating and encouraging them to be able to rise above the social, economic and emotional challenges that they go through as a result of growing up in a disadvantaged environment (slum). Through her initiatives and programs that she has in school on self-awareness and guiding them and encouraging them that they can rise above their status and environment, many girls are now breaking the cycle of poverty in their lives.

She is author of several articles and has also published books for example she has written a guide book for Christian Churches Education Association (CCEA) “Choose Life”. In 2011 she co-authored a paper with Eunice Owino titled “Unruly Women in the Male stream. The Kenya Context,” which they presented in the Women World Conference 2011 in Ottawa, Canada.

She has participated on National cohesion conference with students in Kenya. Here she gave a speech on National Cohesion in Kenya after the post election violence of 2007 the link is

She also has a publication in the International Journal of Science and Research on “Influence of Selected Socio-Demographic Factors on the Response of College Students towards VCT Services. A case of Selected Middle Level Colleges in Kenya”. The link for this is‎.

Joyce is passionate on seeing a society that is free from any form of discrimination, a society that includes all. She strives to inspire more people through creating awareness on the negative effects of discrimination and help them move from their restrictions and boundaries and make a life of success in any of life they desire.
