BE SICKLE CELL AWARE

Yesterday 20th September 2019 was my 36th birthday.... I got the best present ever!!

A 10year old little girl - Juliana from Mukura, Eastern Uganda got her custom made special wheel chair  after a long wait! (finally finally! it has been quite a long wait from March 2018).

Juliana suffered a stroke from sickle cell disease related complications and her dad had made a wooden stroller to enable her be moved around - to hospital especially. I want to thank everyone who made this happen through intense prayer, financial contributions and in kind, physically by dedicating their time to this cause.

As a mother of a child living with SCD I always encourage people preparing to have children to do the sickling test. From my own experience, it is better to take time to ponder the decision to have children if you both have the sickle cell gene.

Juliana is one of the many children affected by this disease, after her stroke she got paralysed and could not sit without support neither can she stand or walk at all. This chair will enable her have comfort during journeys to hospital and i am faithful that she will attend school and excel at it.

This project took almost 2years to accomplish, we were limited by both financial and physical resources but today I am proud that this little girl's life has been made easy.
