The Sisterhood

My how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that my friend Liesl Harewood (also a member) encouraged me to take advantage of the Voices of Our Future opportunity. Even though I signed up hoping to at least make it to the stage where I could receive coaching on how to improve my journalistic skills, what I found was more... much much more.

I always say that I am a resident of the World Wide Web. Being from a small country where the big open ocean can be viewed pretty much from anywhere on the island, coupled with the fact that I am a free spirit and love to go out and explore the world, most days I feel a bit claustrophobic and do not always find persons that share my passion for development in the same way. The internet is a form of escapism to engage with the world and meet like-minded people.

So like many of you that have commented I am amazed that I have found a home, a place of like-minded individuals - like-minded WOMEN. I did not anticipate that I would have received such a welcome, a sense of belonging and to be able to learn so much from each and every one of my counterparts from around the world.

I do not have a sister, only two brothers whom I love dearly, so to connect with women on this level is a beautiful and sacred thing - an online sisterhood in a sense.

I will continue to write and share in hopes that we continue this interaction. All of you have infinite wisdom and I have already reaped the benefits of this engagement, I look forward to learning more from you.
