Why Girls?

One of the more random questions I am being asked in the cause of my social effort is “Why Girls? It’s the kind of question that tends to bring out deep thought and social reflection, as one feels obliged to explain the complexity of the danger of the neglect of the girl child education. My answer most often find expression in the words of Hilary Rodam Clinton " The future of women and girls are tied together, girls cannot advance without the advancement of women and no improvement in lives of women will be sustained, unless girls are given the tools and opportunity to reach their potentials. For they are the women of tomorrow ” It is in all of our interests, as individuals, businesses and governments, to ensure that every child, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic background or circumstances can gain the education they deserve. Girls are forced out of school to help at home, or are forced into early marriage or become pregnant. For many girls school is simply too far away or rivers in the community they live impends them from going to school We must work to remove such barriers, change attitudes and ensure girls have access to quality education. An educated women makes informed choices, she is aware of sanitary practices, family planning - if you educate a boy, you educate a person; but if you educate a girl, you educate a family and benefit an entire community. The overall effect and impact of educating a girl child transcend beyond her and reflect in the society at large. Yet not educating them costs the society more than putting them through school. Let us invest in Women and Girl Child.I cannot stress this enough !why not Girls ? Break the Chain of POVERTY……Educate the girl child
