Women Human Rights Defenders go through various challenges, face threats of and actual violence, but they never give up!



Some of the women human rights defenders shared inspirational experience in line with defending fellow women’s rights; Edreda Dingolo from Batwa tribe, Bundibudyo district gave an impassioned appeal for protection of ancestral land & the unique violence against women and girls challenges women from the Batwa Tribe; adding that there is a stereotype in surrounding tribes as they believe that they can cure from HIV by sleeping with a woman from Batwa tribe as most of them are raped.



Halima Nalongo from Katwe Kabatoro in Kasese revealed the challenges they have faced as women working in the salt industry, related to land grabbing and access to justice.



Women victims of violence also have internal stigma to disclose their experience due to discrimination in the society.



As a voice of the voiceless marginalized women groups I realized that there is a need of public sensitization and security guidelines to be made and enforced for the safety of women human rights defenders and victims in uganda
