Changemaking Resources

Resource map is a very useful tool to clarify one’s goal and make it easy for one to achieve her/ his goal.

My goal is to get men along with women involved in changing the partial conditions in the society starting with the young ones through launching programs in schools, other educational centers and also workplaces.

Thinking about the resources that I have and the resources I need to achieve my goal, these three main resources below keeps me strong and help me to go on:

1. Family

2. Educational

3. Digital

  1. My family had always supported me practicing my freedom in all areas; above all my family had encouraged my decisions in my personal and academic life. They stand by me in any situation, feed me with encouragement and positive energy in every step I take to reach my goals. And they, unlike most traditional families in Afghanistanwhere I come frommy family had never limited my thinking, beliefs, and actions. In addition, I rely and count a lot on my friends. They support me in all ways, academically and socially, this has helped me in life to reach my goals
  2. Digital assets: For this technological era, I feel very strong for having access to technology. It can help me to reach my goals better, easier and even safer. Without being physically in risk, I can keep in touch with community of friends in any part of the world, I can express or share my ideas or launch online campaigns and so forth.
  3. Educational assets: Educational asset is another important element that I am grateful of having it. It shows me the best and proper ways to go in order to get one step closer to my goals. Having knowledge on gender and the challenges that women used to face before and now, detecting the root problems of gender inequality, and finding possible solutions are all educational resources that I am proud of.

Despite of having these three important assets, material asset is another important tool to reach my goals. Especially for my elevator pitch, I need material assets to get some gender experts, a place to serve as office, educational materials, transportation, and salary for those who take part.

Finally, this is the quote that inspires me a lot when I face the challenges, “Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve”. Mary Kay Ash

Kamila,

i am so glad you feel physically safe online. Hopefully you feel emotionally and psychologically safe here also. Supportive families make all the difference in the world, wish i had the same. Nice to learn a new quote. Mine goes: "Argue for your limitations, and they are yours". blessings on your goals.

Dear Kamila,

The support of family is such a strength, and you describe the support you get so beautifully. I love that they feed you with encouragement and positive energy, and that they believe in you, willing to go against prevailing limited thought about women and girls. You make a strong and so important point that being able to be online with us all from the safety of your home allows you to reach out globally with your ideas. It also allows us to know you are there, and to exchange ideas with you. This has never happened before in history. How great that your focus is detecting the root problems we face on gender inequities as women, and that you intend to keep finding solutions. The best of luck in developing your plan and finding the resources to expand your work.

In sisterhood,

Tam

Dear Kamila,

thank you for sharing your assets. I agree that support of family is priceless. For me, my family is also an important asset. Without them I would never challenge myself as I do now.

And you are right. We should never limit ourselves.

Keep my fingers crossed for you!

Take care, Joanna
