A Party For Encouragers!

\"The beauty of any first time is that it leads to a thousand others.\" - Pico Iyer

World Pulse organized its first Encourager Party on June 26, 2020. It was a blast!

As Encouragers joined the Zoom meeting, our party host Dawn Arteaga, Director of Community Engagement, played a groovy music prepared by Manasa Ram Raj, Community Engagement Coordinator.

The mood felt like we were chillin' with friends in a relaxing ambience. It was lovely to watch Encouragers sway to the rhythm of the \"Encourager Playlist\" while waiting for the rest to join the meeting.

Jensine Larsen, World Pulse CEO and Founder, welcomed everyone, \"I heard there was a party!\".   She shared a heartwarming moment when encouragement touched her life. It was inspiring to know how World Pulse was born because there were people who gave encouraging words to her.

Dawn shared the Encourager Vision: Every Storyteller Feels Heard.

In line with that vision is a question for Encouragers, \"How can I help women feel heard?\"

Based on my personal experience as a World Pulse Storyteller/Vocal Contributor and the responses I receive as an Encourager, I shared 5  Tips on Encouragement. Here they are:

1. Practice Empathy.

2. Use Empowering Words.

3. Quote What Speaks to You.

4. Seek Connection by Asking Questions.

5. Encourage from the Heart.

Then it was PARTY TIME! A timer was set for 15 minutes for everyone to visit the World Pulse site and find stories that they are interested in. After that, the World Pulse Team, along with Ana Lozano, moderated break out sessions where Encouragers talked about what stories touched them.

Exchanging reflections was fun! There were those who said, \"the time is so short!\"

Dawn asked Encouragers to share their thoughts about the stories and breakout sessions.

Based on the poll we conducted during the Party, majority was happy about the event, and they will definitely join next month!

How will I describe the Encourager Party? Four words come to mind.

SOLIDARITY. It was a call where we are united with a purpose to \"LISTEN\" to women.

BOND. We have been commenting on each other's post on World Pulse. A deep connection is formed.

JOY. Seeing Encouragers' faces online feels like a reunion of long lost friends.

IMPACT. Knowing that these Encouragers face personal challenges and yet decide to show up to support women is an encouragement in itself.

Ambassador Busayo Obisakin shared a statement that resonated with me, \"Even Encouragers Need Encouragement\" as she expressed how the Encourager Party uplifted her.

As a whole, the Encourager Party was a space for Encouragers to talk about our roles. For weeks, months, years, we help women feel heard. That memorable day, it was the Encouragers' turn to feel valued, appreciated, and affirmed.
