Coming to Nairobi in September to film, interview and write

Jambo Kenya Cafe Members!

I live in the united states and I was in Nairobi for the Annual Micro-credit Summit several years ago where I met Ingrid Munro who founded the organization Jamii Bora. I was so touched by the scope of this organization and her tireless work I am returning to Nairobi this September with my 16 year-old son, an aspiring film maker. We will spend time in Mathare and Kibera with Jamii Bora filming and interviewing to gather material for short documentary and a possible book or a series of articles about people (primarily women) persevering in challenging circumstances to find support and hope for a better life for themselves, their families, and their communities ultimately making the world a more equitable, sustainable, just and safe place for everyone including the environment on which we all depend.

We will have some time to visit another project or two and would love any ideas about organizations that might be appropriate and where it would be possible to interview via tape recorder or film conversations. We are gathering candid women's stories of their challenges and triumphs. If English isn't spoken, access to a translator would also be needed.

Thank you all for the work you are doing in the world and for raising your voices. My passion is to also to do anything possible to help empower women and girls to come into their full power and potential.

Warm regards,
