It has been ten months since I learned how to use the internet. The first day, I was wondering if I had the capacity to use a computer because I knew nothing in that area. A friend told me about the World Pulse Center Mama Shujaa in town, so I went. There I met girls my age and mothers who were undergoing a training in computer and internet. Guided by curiosity and interest, I decided to stay and learn together with others. I didn't know how to switch a computer on, I thought I could open it from the back. Everybody in the room laughed at me. It made feel a bit shy and ashamed but my desire to learn was even bigger so I persevered. As my training went on, I learned about software such as windows, programs like Word and internet use at the same mama Shujaa center. With the internet, I get to interact with women from all over the world, I write journals and post comments on other people's. I have made friends online, I do google searches etc. Thanks to the use of internet, I have selected my audience on the World Pulse network But I do get some difficulties and among others I would like to share some: * Lack of electricity: in Bukavu town, power cuts have become a management principle yet the electricity contribute to the fight against under-development and contribute to the fight against deforestation and environment degradation. Sometimes I am online and when a power cut happen, everything gets interrupted. * The shortage of computers in our center: there is an important number of computer users compared to computers. * The long distance to the center: it is located in a different county, quite far from where we live The use of the internet is great but the access to it isn't enough. That is why, in order to allow an improvement in my use of internet, I would like to have access to photography programs because I would like to become an expert in photography. I would also like to have tools such as a digital camera, a portable computer as well as a mobile phone.

Today,I am able to use the internet thanks to the World Pulse Mama Shujaa Center and I continue to sensitive others to join. I have already recruited four girls who have joined the movement.

Kasindi,

Congratulations on your persistence to learn how to use computers and use the internet. In deed, it must have been ten months of learning. It is also great to hear how you have been using the internet to make new connections online and also to do research. I am sure you have learnt a lot, which must be the reason you are motivated to even go further and train in photography. All the best. It is also of importance to note the challenges that you have had to go through in your quest to access the internet. However despite the challenges I urge you not to give up but to keep going, that way you might even discover new ways of addressing some of the challenges that you mention.

Best of luck my sister.
