Finding my voice

Hello Wonderful Women of World Pulse!

I was moved to join this community when I heard Karen Quiñones-Axalan speak at a virtual Aspire conference last night.  Her message was one of the power of encouragement and how it takes a community of women to support someone out of the silence.

I have 2 daughters who simply by virtue of being female will not have the same life chances as a man. I'm sure I don't need to tell you how wrong this is.  It's my children who have encouraged me to move into the world of gender equity, so I can find and use my voice to encourage other women to find theirs and continue to even the playing field.

Two years ago I left my well paid, secure job to refocus my attention on gender equality.  I wasn't sure what this refocus would look like or where this path would lead me.  I didn't know how much money I would earn, or who I was going to meet on the way.  I didn't know if my voice would be heard.  But my personal values around equality and change drove me forward.

Today I am a co-founder of Shape Leadership.  We have a vision to transform the way you live and lead with greater confidence.  Ninety seven percent of our participants are women. Our online workshops provide brave spaces for people to share their thoughts, emotions and experiences of change.  We offer tools to support people to build their resilience and reconnect with their values and visions.  We coach women to lead with greater confidence.  We have met some incredible people from around the world who all have a story to tell and voice that needs amplifying.

Today is also world values day. As I reflect on the inspiration I heard from Karen last night and her call to action, I encourage anyone who reads my story to spend some time reconnecting with your values and to let them be your north star in life.  And if you would like some support exploring this I am here to encourage you.
