What scares me the most about President Trump

On Friday, Donald Trump became the 45th President of the United States and as a Mexican woman I must admit that I am terrified of what is to come.

I strongly believe that the worst thing about Mr. Trump’s presidency is not his promise to build a wall to keep us, latinos, away like animals, or his threat to make us pay for it; it’s something much deeper that attempts against our humanity, against what little or what more we have accomplished in terms of civility. The worst thing is that today being racist, misogynistic, a bully, etc., is no longer wrong. If the President of the most powerful country in the world is, proudly, all of this and more, how are we going to explain to our children that it’s not ok to be like that and that they must respect others no matter what, if the leader of the free world sowed hatred and reaped popularity?

Like Madonna said yesterday in front of thousands of women who marched for their rights: good did not win this election, but good will win in the end. And only by standing together as women, as human beings is how we can make good prevail.
