Stop sexual violence against women

The impact of sexual violence on victim and community

A woman here, married and a mother of six children. Malefactors came to her house and killed her husband, during which the woman and her children were terrorized witnessing this horrifying scene. Afterwards, they raped the woman, brutally one after another. The children watched as all this happened. These malefactors left the scene when they finished and looted her house, and the children ran to their dear father who was killed and looked at him, heartbroken. They buried him quickly in silence.

During the following month, the woman did not feel well; she suffered from multiple pains and experienced horror and shame. Her family tried to get over it, but it was hard. Children have grown up carrying with them the shock of what they experienced. They tried to comfort their mother by helping her and not overloading their worries to her. The woman became sick very often. A neighbor suggested her to see a doctor and get tested; the doctor told her that she had HIV-AIDs and she knew immediately that she caught the virus during rape. The woman was shocked and depressed. Rape destroyed her life, her soul, her body, her sense of dignity and future. The sexual violence suffered by the woman here, in front of her own children, who was not killed physically (like her husband) but was ruined socially, morally, mentally, and indirectly physically as well (contamination – HIV/AIDS). The children were not physically killed, but they suffered practically almost the same fate as their mother. See how sexual violence carries death in diverse forms and by several different ways. This is the reason for which I raised my voice screaming loudly STOP, STOP, STOP violence against women.
