Handle it professionally

This article is for everyone of us who write books/blogs or does anything to promote mental well-being. The reason behind this article happens to be a book, of which the order of articles seems incorrect. The book is regarding ways in which we can work towards a better mental health and efforts to live a content life.

Now it’s a great book! All of the articles and suggestions are truly amazing. Even the fonts and designs and illustrations are absolutely esthetic and pleasing, the writer/designer and the entire team totally thought from the perspective of someone who needs help in working on their mental health. However, the suggestion that should've been the first in the list was but at the last: to seek medical help.

Someone who is actually ill and suffers from more than general everyday stress will not be helped by traveling or organizing their closet. If anything it may last for a short while. Or it can also be the case that their illness does not allow them to do anything properly. Someone with a medical issue may not be relieved by travel, illness would still cause them trouble.

Look at it this way. If it's not an external but an internal factor, as in if there is something that needs attention within us, it doesn't matter where we are. The factor moves with us where ever we are.

Lets not ignore the fact that going to a psychiatrist or psychologist is expensive. Not all of us have access to insurance or economic independence. It's understandable.

But if we can, then we should do that as the first thing to tackle the issue.

It might be the case that the professionals tell you that’s its just an external thing, change in situations will change your mood. If that’s the case, you can start following rest of the list to destress yourself. For example, decorate your room or try a new hobby, maybe volunteer at a pet centre.

In the other aspect, It is possible that the doctor informs you that you did need medical assistance indeed, if they identify any long term symptoms from the information you provide them. Mental issues develop over years and if one tries to study their situation they might realize that there were signs of it since early years. In that case, you save weeks or months that would have otherwise spent suffering. Look at it this way: you get to know the reality early and  get the right help as soon as possible.

It's a win win situation in both cases. In the first one the professional provides you therapy and in the second you find a way to fully live your life again!

Now about those of us for who it is expensive to visit a professional for something they aren't sure of and believe that it would be a waste of money. Do we have an organization that funds first time visits to therapists/psychiatrists? Or do we have a university department that can provide this analysis? Is there someone who is volunteering in that matter?

To those of us who hesitate in asking about these platforms, please know that it's not really the platforms that are doing something for you; its you who is going to do something for them and for the rest of the society. When we are healthy and happy we do good for not just us but everyone around us.

I would like everyone who is reading this to comment below about platforms I inquired of. Let me mention it here again:  Do we have an organization that funds first time visits to therapists/psychiatrists? Or do we have a university department that can provide this analysis? Is there someone who is volunteering in that matter?
