My Journey

My journey starts in a small town in the United States. I grew up in a nice neighborhood, with a nice family, and nice neighbors. I have one sister - who is moderately \"nice.\"

I soon learned that the world outside my home was not always so nice, nor was it that way for most women around the world. My faith is very important to me, I connect it deeply in everything I do, and I feel that God calls people to make a difference in this world. I was not exactly sure what that looked like for me.

I had great opportunities such as going to college, getting a degree in Journalism, and then on to doing post-graduate work in theology and cultures. I continuously struggle to find ways to use the tools and knowledge I have gained to help those in need.

While in college, I spent two years studying and living in impoverished, urban areas of my country. I know that in relation to what other countries face, these areas may seem \"wealthy,\" but still, families have no place to sleep, children go without food, and education lacks. When these children and families are overlooked, violence, gangs, drugs and street life soon overtake them. This is where my heart is.

I recently got married and had a baby. I work part time at a local nonprofit. I find it difficult to balance being a mom and working on my dreams to make a difference in the world. I do believe that raising a child is the ultimate difference one can make. Moms throughout the globe are the strongest people I have ever met.

For me, I am really excited about this group, because for now, most of my interactions and changemaking has to be done virtually while my son is asleep in my arms.

I hope to connect with women throughout the world, as we share stories and learn from one another.

God Bless.
