Hi Kristine,

Thanks for sharing your inspiring photos and post. That's great the women leaders made a point to visit her. I'm sure it made quite an impact on her.

Dear Kristine,
How deeply touching to read about and see this photo of women surrounding this woman who has just had the extraordinary experience of giving birth to five babies! Especially as she is facing life threatening attitudes from local communities. This support of women for other women is the most important thing we can do for each other. I hold this image in my heart as I wish this strong mother and her children all the support and love they rightly deserve. I hope too that separately some people will work in those communities to undo such deep rooted prejudices.

Hello Kristine,
What a touching story, I am amazed after reading the last sentence. Can you provide me with some further information regarding this cultural practice and the prominence and acceptance of the same?

Thank you

Keep telling the stories to rewrite the narratives.

In Luhya culture if you are married and the first born is twins they say it's a taboo or belief people will be dying mysteriously in the homestead. For Everline she has a set of 3 and its unfortunate we have lost through chest complications and last 2 babies passed on

Thank you for the information it would be nice to hear more about this cultural belief and how it is being combated and prevented.

I hope the visit from Hon. Elsie is making people think twice about getting rid of these babies
