Teenage Pregnancy

Kakamega county is leading in teenage pregnancy.Last week had an opportunity to interview girls expectant, teenage mothers, parents affected, teachers, local administration, police, rescue centres, legislators, CSOS and county education board members. Poverty, bodaboda, disco matanga, social media, peer pressure, poor parenting skills  are factors leading to teenage pregnancy. Teachers are not aware of return to school policy and national health strategy policy. We agreed to organise for meeting and take them through the policies and legislators to introduce a bill on sexual education to be introduced in schools.
