AFFORESTATION SENSITIZATION ETHICS.

There are many options on how to go about sensitization on afforestation. The quick, most effective and lasting way to go about a problem is by fixing it from the roots. We can start our baby steps towards achieving that with our immediate family, friends, then the community at large. We should often sensitize our young ones from time to time about their environment and how it works, how the whole ecosystem works. We can encourage them by planting together with them even if it’s in our backyard. Once a child grasps something from childhood, it sticks. 

     Well, sensitization is incomplete without the community therefore we’ll learn how to contribute our own quota to the community towards the cause.

  So therefore what is community sensitization?

Community sensitization/ mobilization is an attempt to bring both human and non-human resources together to undertake development activities in order to achieve sustainable development, improve the health, hygiene and education levels so as to enhance the overall standard of living in the community.

      Community members actually have a better understanding of the problems and challenges around them. They know the land suitable for a community park, they are conversant with the vegetation around them.  

Community mobilization proved to be a valuable and effective concept when it comes to solving some problems around us. 

  Sensitization needs analytical and supportive resources which are internal and external to the communities as well.

Such resources include 

   -leadership 

    - organizational capacity 

   - communication channels 

   - assessments

   - problem solving 

   - resource mobilization 

   - administrative and operational management.

   The leaders (grass tops) , the citizens (grassroots) and youth are fully engaged in mobilizing stakeholders and implementing evidence- based interventions.  

       The government can also play one of the most vital roles to promote  afforestation through these few suggested points.

   - Government  support -:  the government would be significant in putting rules and regulations that prohibits clearing of trees.

   - Giving out free seeds and seedlings. 

Provisions of planting materials is significant towards the desired afforestation goal.

   - Tree planting competition is also a very good option 

   - strategy layout.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE TO THE AFFORESTATION SCHEME?

You can start by planting trees in the area on an individual level and in areas which are accessible to and open for public.

         Creating awareness among other people in the society and asking for their contribution to saving our planet.  You can encourage them to plant at least one tree for every member of their family.
