Goddesses used to represent an ideal

Stories depicted their "fall" from divinity, to offer wisdom. Myths present tools to conceptualise our nature, evaluate our humanity and reflect on what it means to be human. If philosophy is only wisdom when applied, perhaps we can derive teachings from mythology.
Through myth and folklore we can learn how to move from one archetype to another. The stories of the goddesses tell us how to use movement to cultivate change. Used today, myths may inspire a life of beauty. Female energy, is arguably life itself, while masculine energy seeks to test life through conquering. The goddesses invite us to live in unison with both.
Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, represents living the joy of life. What if we were to inspire our own growth through the search for love, starting with self-love? The eternally young Aphrodite wants simply to be loved. Could we learn to pursue self-love with the same veracity, and create beauty in everything we do because we act from love? The self-confidence, adaptability and resilience of this archetype present life-changing tools.
Demeter, the generous mother, teaches us to live the cycles without resistance, to flow in harmony with all that is. The mother martyr archetype presents us with the question: "What do you need to give birth to, and nurture in your life?" Also, "What do I need to kill because it is no longer needed?" Through this natural flow, we can learn more about the sweetness of letting go. We can embrace courageous generosity, which sometimes means saying 'no'.
Hera, the hero guardian of great laws and the cosmic order, invites us to create a stronger union with the higher self, in order to remain connected, and truly experience everything, while trusting that justice will prevail. Athena, the independent warrior goddess seeks justice and logic. Do we pursue creative intelligence enough?
Like the World Pulse community, the archetype teaches us to seek out long lasting change for the greater good, nurturing our constructive nature that yearns for purposeful collaboration. Like Athena, we are not afraid to get our hands dirty and fight for what is right.
Goddesses used to represent the ideal feminine.
Today, they teach us how to embrace all we are with courageous love.
