Resource Exchange

I need resources to establish an empowerment center for fashion design that will serve the Donga mantung division. Women and girls in this area are still in the dark as far as menstraul hygiene management is concerned.

Women and girls in Donga Mantung know very little about menstraul hygiene management and still attarch a lot of stigma and taboos to menstraution. Young girls see it as a monthly task and a scenario for pity. They use their old clothes, wash and dry very far from the eyes of people and remain indoors all the days of their menses.

Hi Sylvie,

So, your empowerment center will educate women on the menstrual management, fashion design or both? Are you looking for mentors, educators, or financial resources? Also, do you just want people to private message you, write below, or either?

Keep us posted on any developments, and your progress. Hope you have a great, safe day!

The empowerment center is where the pads are sown,. The matrons will teach the young girls fashion designing beside sewing the pads.We will have other empowerment activities like soap making, beads making and others. The trainees and other volunteers will teach the community menstrual hygiene through outreach programs and campaigns that will be organized.
We need financial support to purchase items,
Or in kind support in the form of
Sewing machines,
White cotton and wool material,
A computer. Thank you in advance for your support.

Oh, okay. Thanks for the clarification.

That sounds like a great center. Good job!

Do you have a fundraising link or do people need to private message you, if they wish to contribute? You could do a fundraiser on FB? That could be a good way to gain more exposure.

Friendly reminders:
1. Study similar calls (open and closed ones) that interest you to discover what they have in common and how you can think ahead/plan to apply = increase your chances of success!
2. Prepare/update paperwork (certificates and atests usually required from an organization like yours);
3. Write (baby steps...!) and discuss a project draft - to validate the priorities within your group and to train your grant writing skills;
4. Do not wait to find a call and then start writing your oroposal/project. Start now!!!
5. Visit the World Pulse website >>> My Pulse >>> Resources and then use its filters (right upper corner) to find what may really suit you;
6; Share the opportunities that may not apply to you but can interest others;
7. Spread the word about your failures and achievements in grant requests; yes, tell these storiies too... - they will enlighten and inspire your network.
