#SheTransformsTech through Each One, Teach One!

I lead a technology-driven empowerment programme which is a youth-led and peer-focused leadership programme for marginalised youth located in rural areas in Bangladesh and several African countries.  The aim of this programme is to encourage girls to pursue their careers in STEM in Bangladesh and also use technology to address the 12 most pressing challenges faced by Africa including sexual violence, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and teenage pregnancies.

The current focus is on Economic Justice and Rights and focuses on financial literacy, digital literacy and legal and policy reform of property rights of women from developing countries. The delivery of the program is predominantly done virtually. There are currently 1000 activists working on promoting the issues with an impact of over 100,000. This programme will potentially impact over 10 million people in the coming 5 years.

Globally there is a lack of financial literacy and digital literacy as well as a lack of property rights of women. The issue of property rights is caused by archaic laws and where there are laws, there is a lack of implementation of laws. This programme will continue to advocate for policy reform and aim to garner support from Heads of States as well as educational institutions globally. Its aim is to use technological channels and platforms in addressing the issue of financial and digital literacies and the lack of property rights of women to reach all educational institutions by 2030. This will be delivered through augmented reality, stimulated workshops and online training curriculum to disseminate educational materials, training and workshops and through targeted online campaigns.

There are currently over 1000 activists working towards meeting this goal and they are seeking support from other activists. It has also received support from several national and international agencies. This widespread support has led to the launch of the Global Activists Network (GAN) which is a depository of global activists working at the grassroots level to address issues such as gender inequality, child marriages, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), teenage pregnancy etc. This is a unique online depository bringing together the activists and promoting their work and case studies and run impact-driven conferences through webinars and through social media.

Dear LChanda,
This is interesting and very appropriate during the pandemic when learning is not possible face to face. Besides reaching a thousand people is no joke. So keep it up.
