Why be a World Pulse correspondent?
Let me count the ways….

1. To Offer my voice, my passion, my abilities for the cause of women’s equity


2. To Polish my voice so that it may shine and sing, loud and clear, reaching as many as possible for my passion of
   women’s equity in STEM education


3. To Learn the skills of citizen journalism and digital empowerment


4. To make a Measurable impact


5. To Facilitate women with resources, safe spaces, and the public with knowledge that matters and makes a
   difference


6. To continue and Expand my current activities for the benefit of others


7. To Share with other correspondents my experiences, skills, etc


8. To Give of myself to a greater good


9. To Help other correspondents with their passions


10. To Become part of a global sisterhood


11. To Develop lifelong friends and be a friend to others


12. To Gain confidence and lose the fears that hold me back from expressing myself fully

15. To step outside my perspective and gain another’s, as well as give mine if desired

17. To show women and girls that we are beautiful in all our varieties and smart in many different ways. That they too,

18. To be Connected to a support network, and offer my support, so I never give up on this cause


19. To Explore the many ways in which we can have an impact and then utilize them or give them to others


20. To be a World Pulse correspondent in training would be a dream come true!!!!

I LOVE being a positive social change leader! I started my women’s soccer team in high school, put education improvement programs in place for thousands of students, and helped girls see their potential to become engineers and scientists. These experiences have inspired me to dream even broader. My personal vision for my life is continuing to do what I do, but on a global scale, reaching every community and corner of the world, with a community of sisters, and without fear.

I have been so humbled by and deeply grateful for the writings of women on World Pulse, from Zambia to Palestine to Canada. I am struck by the thread that connects us all, we are truly sisters. My personal vision of the world is a place where women do not experience the sufferings I’ve read and written about. A place where we can learn science and be accepted. A place where pain is a distant memory, not a constant reality. A place where we can dance, draw, sing, and play without fear or retribution.

I believe in being a global citizen and doing this work responsibly. That is why I want to learn citizen journalism and digital empowerment. World Pulse has already helped me be more clear and confident in my voice, but I am Not done. I have so much more to give, and I don’t know how. As a scientist, student of international relations, and a woman- I want to finish what I’ve started. I envision my blog being a place for girls and women to connect with science and each other. I envision turning possibilities into realities and sharing it with the world. For example, I have a colleague who made a cheap powerful device that orbits in high altitude- it takes many measurements that can be used for anything! And he wants to give it to girls around the world to teach them science and help them change their community! He is asking for help. I dream of using this to document both peace and violence, to provide environmental information for improved food production, for connecting girls on opposite sides of the world with tangible improvement, and more importantly, independent ownership.

I envision support and CELEBRATION of other women and their achievements in life.
