DISCOVERING PURPOSE- My journey to Fulfillment

You should be wondering why I am passionate about personal branding and why I became a personal brand facilitator.

This is my story.

On my way home one evening in 2004, I noticed a situation that ignited a very strong passion and desire in me. I saw a young girl with two younger children. The young girl I noticed was so unkempt while the two other children were well dressed and groomed. When I inquired I was told she was the baby sitter to those children. I had never felt such compassion before for a fellow sister. From that day I began noticing and desiring to see those around me come to a full if not better understanding of who they really are so as to stand tall in confidence.

As a journalist, PR and media consultant I have had several avenues to voice out what I believed about self-esteem and worth and they have been worthwhile. I never missed an opportunity to add value to the people i met in and out of my job. It gave me so much satisfaction to see my team members grow (radio and TV) and become confident and excellent journalists, though I wasn’t paid to do that lol.

In all of this it never dawned on me it could go beyond a passion to a lifelong mission.

The puzzle fell in place one day when I was working on articles for a friend’s magazine. She asked me to write the profiles of influential women in my country. When I began researching i discovered most of the women had little or no information about themselves, what they do and how to reach them, anywhere. This saddened me because I saw the potential and achievements of these brilliant women at home and abroad, yet they were nowhere to be found either on social media, libraries or even directories. How can we draw from such rich treasuries if we donot even have access to them?

Beyond being saddened, I realized the crisis went way beyond the baby sitters, house helps, being marginalised, mistreated etc. Everyone has a crisis that if not resolved, they will remain irrelevant yet full of potential. everyone needs to define why they do the things they do and then share their expertise with their communities.

That was when I came across for the first time the phrase personal branding.

The lights came on, and I knew what I had to do. I began researching for courses, online trainings so as to better understand and equip myself and….

Here we are today.

Am ready to give back to my community and everyone who is willing to take this passionate journey with me.
