Women the Option We Need

Walking on the village a see fear, pain, worry, anxiety and hopelessness. People eyes are red with tears of fear and anxiety. Families are breaking down due to fear and hopelessness. All this caused by the impact of Covid 19 in the country.

The entry of Covid 19 in Kenya double crippled communities and families at the grassroots. Loss of jobs and businesses increasing the burden for the families. Restriction on movement and meetings breaking the social ties that were useful to families and individuals. Now mental health increasing in the family. 

Doctors working round the clock, government trying to do their best (majority for their self interest), community leaders finding help for families. All these efforts bring some value. Unfortunately the traditional change makers are yet to be felt; Women.

Women have proved to be powerful tools in addressing pandemics even war. Instead of treating them as victims it is important to empower them as change agents. Women can fight the Covid 19 virus, insecurity, conflicts and social challenges that for decades communities have struggled with. WOMAN-Kenya organization mission is building, strengthening and harnessing the power, influence and potentials of women and girls for healthy, secure, cohesive, peaceful and progressive communities in Kenya.
