World Oceans Day

Today all over the globe we are supposed to be acknowledging world oceans day. In this special day I am not found of how our oceans has becomes.

In 2015 August I got a visit from my very close friend from Denmark visiting me in Ghana. As part of our programs for the monthly visits we had to visit the few beaches we had in Accra Ghana. I was so proud to carry my guest and do a show off with him about our beaches, however to my amazement I was shocked. We started at James Town Accra where this Usher Fort  was located, those of you who know this place can attests to what I am saying.

Oh mine ,the water was so dark like  charcoal, I nearly thought we were at a pond site. Like yeah, where is that blue serene colour of the ocean? I got embarrassed! As my friend opted to go inside and swim I got more embarrassed and exclaimed! Please don't swim inside this dirty water! But my friend never listened to me anyway, I guess it was because he has missed swimming for the one month visit that it can wait. Later I  beat my chest for taking him there.

My point is our oceans are getting uglier! Full of plastics wastes, drains waters, human wastes and what of you. It will not surprised me that years to come when nothing is done about it, our fishes will turn to plastics.  Fishermen will go for fishing only to catch plastics.

On this special day let's reflect on our attitudes towards our oceans. Let keep our water bodies clean. Its for our own benefits with clean surroundings. Remember cleanliness is next to Godliness.

Hi Lisbeth,

Thanks for sharing your concerning post. I quite agree that more needs to be done to keep plastic, and other trash out of the ocean, and everywhere, in general, for that matter. There are a lot of initiatives being done now. I just hope it catches up soon with the amount of waste and trash that is around. I think a lot of people have a tendency to turn a blind eye, so hopefully this mentality will also turn around sooner rather than later as well to restore out beautiful planet and its resources.

Thanks very much for having same thought as mine. A lot takes the environmental issues for granted. If is money issues great, empowerment excellent but about environment no body takes responsibility. I really hope with you that in the future things may change. However, we must start change now so it affect the future.
Anyway, we can only do our best. I hope you are very cool? :-)!

Dear Lisbeth,
It is so good to read your call for us all to pay attention to the oceans, and also the lakes. In my lifetime they have become full of plastics, industrial chemicals and garbage. When I was young we could drink from any lake. Now we are in a water crisis from governments who have allowed the dumping, and people who have closed their eyes. Let's all make this beautiful earth and its waters a priority. Linking arms with you on this, dear sister.

Thanks very much for reading through. But please oo did you said you have water crisis in Canada? I am shocked, I thought such issues are only in developing countries oo no!
What happened? As regards the pollution of the water bodies I think your country is better than here puha, its a total mess here.
I wonder why people and stakeholders always close their eyes to such sensitive issues. We can only do our part though. I hope you are doing very great? Please take care of yourself for me :-)

Hello Lisbeth,
I like the oceans and I think we should reconsider our irresponsible acts and make an end to oceans polluting.
Thank you for reminding us about the world oceans day.

Its good to hear about your love for the water bodies. Same here with me and its irritates me when I see it be polluted.
I wish we see this implementation in the future. Thanks and hope you are doing well?

Hello, Lisbeth,

Oh, I missed this wonderful World Ocean Day. I agree our oceans are asking us to be rehabilitated. I hope we all can work together in finding solutions on how we can clean this water resource. Thank you for sharing about this. Hope you are having a great day!
