Introducing myself and my journal: surviving mindanao

About Me:
I am a development worker for 24 years, working for and with rural women, marginalized farmers, indigenous peoples , and fisherfolk in various issues and development initiatives such as women's health and safe motherhood, coastal resource management, sustainable agriculture, gender and policy advocacy.I am involved in two non-government development organizations working with rural women and rural communities in the area of microfinance, rural enterprise development and environment. I am also working in the advocating issues affecting Mindanao people be it in peace, mining or poverty.With an activist background, i also have to live in fear of my security and that of my children, as the counter insurgency of the present government has included the non-combatants as its target.As a mother, as a woman and a development worker,I long for peace to come into my our home, community and our island.I envision myself to become a light to others, a resource to other women, to become a voice to voiceless.

My Passions:
advancing the rights of women,gender equality, learning and sharing what works and what does not work in empowering women and communities,agri enterprise,organic farming, contributing to the environmental protection, protecting rights of children,

My Challenges:
to know how to blog, to widen my connection to women's groups, to join women's movement, to continue learning, to attain financial independence

My Vision for the Future:
a world where people can live peacefully with deep respect for diversity, when girls and women would have equal rights to opportunities for self actualization, where we will not do anything without thinking how it wil impact to the next generations
