Real Women, Real Lives, Real Stories

Women’s lives matter. Men’s lives matter also, but it seems like men have been getting good press for centuries. Women, on the other hand, have struggled to be noticed for many years. It was only recently in the United States (1970s) that Equal Rights came in to being. There are many places in the world where women are second rate, still to this day.

There are many talented and accomplished women out there. I’m privileged to know some of them. I see creative, professional, successful women in all walks of life. I admire their strength. Then I wonder at their perseverance.

I’m amazed at the challenges which have been overcome by the women I know personally. I can only imagine the adversity faced by other women in my world.

BlogHer has initiated a campaign in collaboration with SheKnows Media to celebrate #WomensLives. The goal of the campaign is to start conversations and foster change – the world over. So that women everywhere can be safe, successful and celebrated.

Dear Madar,

I agree, it is amazing at the challenges women continually overcome, and so true that the blatant repression of and violence done to women has been so silenced for so many years. Even here in North America despite steps forward over what is now many years, we join hands with sisters globally to end violence against women that continues to be ignored by courts here. The more we continue to raise our voices together, the stronger we become. That we now have the ability to be in touch with each other globally has catapulted us into such a strong wave of change. All the best with your work. Your sharp perspective is so welcome.

In sisterhood,
Tam

Laws are a good start, but we need to instill equality into the fabric of the culture. Successful women as role models can certainly help

Dear Madar,
Yes, #WomensLives matter. We matter. Should we wait for others to celebrate us? Let’s celebrate each other. Let’s celebrate our wins-big and small. Let’s celebrate our sisterhood.
I celebrate with you with huggs from the Philippines.
❤️Paulina
